Sustainability at TM Travel

Creating meaningful travel with a positive impact

At TM Travel, we believe that travel should create value not only for travellers, but also for local communities, businesses, and the environment. Sustainability is therefore integrated into every aspect of our business model. By offering carefully designed fly-drive holidays through Central and Eastern Europe, we aim to create meaningful travel experiences while minimizing environmental impacts and maximizing social and economic benefits.

Our sustainability policy is aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Responsible travel experiences

One of the key features of TM Travel is the use of electric rental cars whenever possible. By encouraging travellers to choose electric vehicles, we actively contribute to reducing Co2 emissions and promoting more sustainable mobility within the tourism sector. In addition, all travel documents are provided digitally to reduce paper consumption and unnecessary waste.

Our fly-drive routes are carefully designed to reduce unnecessary travel distances while encouraging travellers to spend more time in destinations. This approach promotes slow tourism, reduces overtourism, and allows visitors to experience destinations in a more authentic and responsible way.

These actions directly contribute to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Supporting local communities

At TM Travel, we actively collaborate with locally owned accommodations, restaurants, tour guides, and activity providers. By working with local entrepreneurs, tourism revenue remains within the destination and contributes to local economic development.

We prioritize suppliers that demonstrate responsible business practices and actively support local employment opportunities. Through these partnerships, we contribute to SDG 8 (Decent work and Economic Growth) and SDG 11(Sustainable Cities and Communities).

Our goal is not only to bring travellers to a destination, but also to ensure that tourism creates positive value for the people who live there.

Working together with stakeholders

Sustainability can only be achieved through collaboration. Therefore, TM Travel works closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

Internal Stakeholders

At TM Travel, sustainability is integrated into our daily operations. The management team actively considers sustainability when selecting partners and developing new travel concepts. Employees contribute by promoting responsible travel practices and supporting customers throughout their journey. Our marketing and communication team raises awareness about sustainable travel choices, while travel planners carefully select local partners and accommodations that align with our sustainability values. Together, we work to ensure that sustainability is reflected in every travel experience we offer.

External Stakeholders

At TM Travel, sustainability is also achieved through close collaboration with a variety of external stakeholders. We work with accommodation providers that hold sustainability certifications such as Green Key, Travelife, and the EU Ecolabel, ensuring that our travellers stay in accommodations committed to responsible business practices. We also partner with electric car rental companies to reduce the environmental impact of transportation.

In addition, we support local restaurants, guides, and activity providers to ensure that tourism benefits local communities and economies. To strengthen our sustainability efforts, TM Travel aims to collaborate with organizations such as ANVR Better Holidays Programme, the Global Sustainable Tourism Counsil (GSTC) , and the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions (NBTC). These partnerships help us follow recognized sustainability standards, improve our practices, and contribute to a more responsible tourism industry.

Together, these stakeholders help create tourism experiences that balance economic growth, environmental protection, and social responsibility. These collaborations directly supports SDG 17  (Partnerships for the Goals).

Our sustainable goals for 2030

To strengthen our contribution to sustainable tourism, TM Travel has established several measurable goals for the future:

  • At least 80% of all rental vehicles offered will be electric by 2030.
  • 100% of travel documentation will remain fully digital.
  • At least 75% of accommodation partners will have recognized sustainable practices or certifications.
  • Increase cooperation with local suppliers in all destinations to ensure that tourism revenue remains within local communities.
  • Reduce the carbon footprint of our travel packages by promoting low-impact transport options and responsible travel behaviour.
  • Increase traveller awareness by providing sustainability information and responsible travel guidelines before every trip.

Looking ahead

We recognize that sustainability is an ongoing process rather than a final destination. By continuously improving our practices, strengthening partnerships, and encouraging responsible travel behaviour, we aim to become a leading example of sustainable family tourism in Europe.

At TM Travel, we believe that the best journeys leave a positive impact, not only on the traveller, but also on the communities, cultures, and environments that make each destination unique.

"TM Travel exceeded our expectations with its commitment to sustainability. It was an unforgettable journey where we not only created amazing memories but also contributed to a better future"
